Plants.
Trees.
They all start somewhere. With a seed. Somewhere along the way a deliberate action occurred to start something brand new. The world itself began by God breathing it into existence, every part of it. Once he finished creating it he saw, “it is very good.”
That was the point of all that God would do, that everything he made in this world might be good. It was not long after this that sin infected the world and not every part was good anymore.
It was broken, it needed to be restored.
Man himself was broken, vulnerable and overcome by temptation. His relationship with his creator was destroyed.
God’s ultimate plan to mend the relationship with His creation?
Jesus.
Through Jesus God planned to do something new, never done before, to go in to the world and be an agent of restoration.
Restoration of individuals.
Restoration of communities.
Restoration of states.
Restoration of countries.
Restoration of the entire world.
He would use the church that Jesus established, The Bride of Christ, who would simply become His hands and feet to touch the world and introduce restoration to those who desperately need it.
Welcome to South Atlanta.
This is one of the fastest growing areas in America.
The Atlanta area has a population of 6 million people and could be close to 10 million by 2010.
There are a whole lot of people in this part of the country, and so many in desperate need of restoration to their creator. Less than 20 percent of the entire Atlanta area attends a church of any kind on any given weekend.
What does this all mean?
The church in its current state here in our area can’t accomplish the plan set in motion by Jesus so many years ago. There just aren’t enough churches for all of the people.
So, we’ve committed to do something about it. We want to be a part of this process of restoring man’s relationship with his creator; we believe this is God’s call on our lives.
To do this, we will plant a new church.
The Grove Church will be a relevant, loving church that will reach its community and beyond for Christ. Its desire is to restore simplicity to living life in the way of Jesus, cutting away all of the road blocks that hypocrisy and surface community have built in the way of those seeking to be reunited with the One who seeks after them. Simply put, The Grove Church will simply help people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.
Our mission to do this is to love God with all of our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves, and we’ll prove it by being an active part in our community through service, building relationships, and by trying to live out the way of Jesus in every part of our lives.
We’re not just starting a church we are beginning a movement of people who will embrace God’s call on their lives. And God will multiply that effort into new churches who will reach in to new places to bring restoration to the lives of those he loves.
People reconnected to God through a seed.
A seed.
Becomes a sapling.
A sapling grows into a tree.
The tree bears fruit.
Fruit comes away.
A new seed is planted.
Welcome to The Grove.
